Zakharova: German rulers are the craziest rulers of the last 80 years
Following the sidelines of the German president’s argument with a journalist over the Nord Stream pipeline project, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman expressed regret for the Germans and said that the country’s rulers and officials are the “stupidest” in the last 80 years.
According to RCO News Agency, during the hosting of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at a ceremony to mark the fall of the Berlin Wall, a reporter named Marco Martin criticized him harshly and pointed to the Nord Stream pipeline project, which had limitations.
The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines were built under the Baltic Sea to bring Russian natural gas directly to Germany. Both pipelines were destroyed in September 2022 by underwater explosions of unknown origin and described as acts of sabotage. At the time of approval of the construction of these projects, Steinmeier was the foreign minister of Germany and was under pressure from the West, and after events such as the start of the war in Ukraine, he repeatedly expressed regret about this project.
According to Bild, during Friday’s ceremony, Steinmeier was visibly upset by Martin’s remarks, and according to sources, a physical altercation apparently took place between the German president and the German journalist after the ceremony. However, Steinmeier’s spokesperson denies the incident.
In this regard, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, criticized the German leaders.
He said: “The current rulers of Germany are the craziest rulers of the last 80 years.”
The Russian diplomat turned his attention to that part of the Bild newspaper report, which stated that the German president hit Martin on the head for his remarks about Nord Stream.
Maria Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel: “I only say one thing; My condolences to the Germans. Their country has not seen such crazy rulers for 80 years. On the other hand, one should always fight for dignity, honor and freedom. And if German citizens don’t wake up, their country will remain in this state.”
According to this German writer and journalist, Steinmeier approved the Nord Stream project and this became the reason for Russia’s attack on Ukraine. This author also questioned the position of the German president regarding his relations with Russia and criticized him severely. According to Martin, after speaking at the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Steinmeier spoke to him very loudly.
