Occurrence of forest fires in the northeastern United States / 27 million people were placed in the warning zone – Mehr News Agency | RCO News Agency
According to the Mehr News Agency, quoted by NBC News, with the spread of forest fires in the northeastern regions of the United States, nearly 27 million people from these regions, from New York to Massachusetts, were placed in the fire warning zone.
Winds and low humidity are helping to fuel wildfires across the Northeast, and cities across the region are on alert Saturday.
Red warnings – indicating an increased fire risk due to hot temperatures, very low humidity and stronger winds – were in effect for some northeastern cities until Saturday afternoon.
New Jersey Forest Fire Chief Bill Donnelly said at a news conference Saturday that “this fire is the largest so far this year, and it’s unclear how it started.”
According to reports, one person has died while trying to extinguish the fire.
