NATO will cooperate and exchange information for Ukraine.
According to Isna, the European Council announced today (Saturday) that it decided to extend the mandate of the European Union’s military assistance mission to support Ukraine, known as EUMAM, for another 2 years until November 12, 2026, with a budget allocation of about 409 million euros between November 14, 2024 and November 15, 2026.
The statement published on the website of the Council of Europe states: This mission is an important tool in European military aid to Ukraine, with the main purpose of helping to improve the military capacity of the reformed forces of Ukraine.
The Council of Europe announced: According to today’s decision, IOMM in Ukraine will cooperate with NATO, in particular, in the NATO Military Assistance and Training Mission for Ukraine (NSATU) and exchange information with this mission in a transparent, mutual and comprehensive manner.
In the aforementioned statement, the European Council decided on October 17, 2022, a few months after the start of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, to determine the European Union’s military assistance mission to support Ukraine and start its activities. The strategic goal of this mission was to help improve the military capacity of the armed forces of Ukraine to renew their forces and carry out their operations efficiently in order to make it possible to defend the territorial integrity of Ukraine within its international borders, maintain national sovereignty and protect civilians against Russian military aggression.
The Council of Europe added: This mission of the European Union has so far trained 63,000 members of the armed forces of Ukraine, equivalent to 15 brigades of them. The mission will train another 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers in the coming months, bringing the total number of Ukrainian soldiers trained by it to 75,000 by the end of winter 2024 and 2025.
