Moscow summoned the Moldovan ambassador
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia summoned the ambassador of this country in Moscow following the discrimination of the Moldovan government against the Russian observers monitoring the presidential elections of Moldova.
According to Isna, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia announced today (Wednesday) that it has summoned the Moldovan ambassador to this country, “Lilian Derry”, to protest against the discriminatory and unfriendly actions against Russian observers in the Moldovan election monitoring boards.
The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia states: “Lilian Deri, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova in Russia, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. The ambassador was strongly protested regarding the discriminatory and unfriendly actions of Chisinau towards the Russian temporary observers in the Organization for Security and Humanitarian Cooperation. “Moldova’s actions against Russian observers are a gross violation of Chisinau’s international obligations,” the statement said.
Moldova’s presidential election, which was won by a European Union-backed candidate, has faced accusations of fraud and vote manipulation by the government and the opposition. Some parties have criticized the authorities for opening only 2 polling stations at the Moldovan embassy in Moscow despite the large number of Moldovan nationals living in Russia.
