According to RCO News Agency, quoted by BBC World, 14 people died after lightning struck a refugee camp in Uganda.
According to the police, the victims had gathered in a church for a religious ceremony when the incident occurred. According to the police, 34 other people were also injured.
An official told a local media that all the victims were children. This incident happened in the Palabek refugee camp in northwestern Uganda. This area has recently witnessed heavy rains with thunder and lightning.
According to the announcement of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, this camp has housed more than 80,000 refugees and asylum seekers, most of whom are from neighboring Sudan.
Four years ago, in a similar incident in northwestern Uganda, 10 children were killed by lightning in the city of Arua.
