Lavrov: Ukraine’s territory is getting smaller and smaller by violating agreements – Mehr News Agency | RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Tass, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized at the opening of the 16th World Forum of Russia that the more Kiev violates the agreements, the more territory Ukraine will lose.
The top Russian diplomat stated: The more the current Western-backed Ukrainian authorities violate more agreements, the less territory will be left for this regime.
He added: “If they had fulfilled what they had agreed to in good faith in February 2014, nothing would have happened and the Crimean peninsula would now be a part of Ukraine.” But they decided to break the pledge because they were eagerly waiting for a change of government as soon as possible. It came to February 2015 and the Minsk agreements. Yes, Crimea had seceded by then, but if they had honored these agreements, Ukraine would have remained within its borders, including the entire Donbas region. But they didn’t want it to happen because they didn’t want to grant a “special status” privilege to a part of Donbass, which included confirming the right of the people there to speak their mother tongue.
The Russian Foreign Minister also pointed to and emphasized the agreements in Istanbul: and the third opportunity they had was April 2022 in Istanbul. The President of Russia (Vladimir Putin) has already talked about its details. Of course, the current situation is different from April 2022.
