According to Mehr news agency, citing Politico, according to Russian media, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is going to visit Malta next month to participate in the meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
This visit, which is scheduled to take place on December 5 and 6, is the first visit of the Russian Foreign Minister to Europe since the beginning of the country’s special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
The European Union previously sanctioned Lavrov over the Ukraine war, but did not impose a travel ban on him to EU member states.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed Lavrov’s visit to Malta next month. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov last traveled to Stockholm in December 2021 for a meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
