According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Sputnik, Russian government spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on Wednesday that the detention of Russian journalists at the American airport is against the principles of media freedom and is unacceptable.

In this regard, he said: After these journalists have completed all the formalities and procedures of obtaining all the entry permits, such an action and attitude towards journalists and reporters is in conflict with the principles of freedom of the media, and of course this move is unacceptable for us.

Earlier, Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that Moscow will not ignore the detention of Russian journalists at the American airport.

Zakharova said that American authorities did not inform the Russian Embassy in Washington about the detention of Russian journalists who came to cover the US presidential election.
