Erdogan: If Israel has an “Iron Dome”, we will have a “Steel Dome”.
Türkiye’s president said that his country is looking for the construction of the “Iron Dome” air defense system, alluding to the “Iron Dome” defense system of the Zionist regime.
According to RCO News Agency, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stated that his country is looking to build a multilayer air defense system under the name of the “Steel Dome” system, as well as strengthening its capabilities in the field of long-range missiles.
According to “Reuters” News agency, Türkiye, which is a member of NATO, has reduced its dependence on foreign suppliers of military equipment in recent years. The country has also become a leading producer of armed drones in the global market, producing much of its own defense needs.
In a speech at the unveiling ceremony of the domestic helicopter “Gukbe” at the headquarters of the Turkish Aerospace Industries Organization in Ankara, where it was the target of an attack by separatist militias a few days ago, the President of Turkey made fun of the inefficient “Iron Dome” defense system. The Zionist regime and comparing Ankara’s “Steel Dome” project with it said: “Our multi-layered air defense systems are of vital importance for our security and it is believed that they have improved a lot now. If they (Zionist regime) have an iron dome, we will also have a steel dome system. “We didn’t sit down and just look at them and say why don’t we have this.”
In his speech, Erdogan did not give details about the exact time of the unveiling of this system.
The President of Türkiye pointed out: “We will also increase our capabilities in the field of long-range missiles during this period. “Türkiye will not stop until it achieves full independence in military industries.”
The Iron Dome defense system of the Zionist regime became operational in 2011 with the aim of intercepting short-range rockets fired into the occupied territories.
In 2017, the regime also operationalized a naval version of the Iron Dome to protect ships and equipment located at sea.
The United States previously imposed sanctions on Türkiye’s military industry in December 2020 due to its purchase of the S-400 air defense system from Russia. Washington also excluded Ankara from the production program of the new generation F-35 stealth fighters, in which Turkey was supposed to be the buyer and producer.
On Sunday, October 13, the “THAD” anti-missile defense system was sent to the occupied territories in continuation of the public support of the United States to the Israeli regime, and on October 15, 2024, it was officially deployed in the occupied territories. Along with this system, nearly 100 American troops were sent as military advisors to help use this system, deploy it and make it operational.
After the 2 operations “Wada Sadiq 1” and “Wada Sadiq 2” against the Zionist regime and the changes in battle tactics and the successive failures of the Iron Dome system in dealing with missile attacks from Lebanon, Gaza and most importantly from Iran, the main goal The deployment of the THAAD system is to strengthen the air defense of the Israeli regime. This issue has been officially stated by the American officials and in this regard Pat Ryder, the spokesperson of the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) in a statement referring to Iran’s missile operation against the Israeli regime announced, “The deployment of a THAAD anti-missile system, an integrated air defense system. It strengthens Israel.”
At the same time, Abdul Bari Atwan, a leading analyst of the Arab world and the editor of Raei Alyoum newspaper, said in an interview: “The deployment of Tad means admitting the failure of the Iron Dome and Dawood’s Flakhan systems; All their defensive plans were destroyed and they failed miserably.”
