Slovakian media reported today (Monday) the arrest of a man who wanted to assassinate the country’s prime minister in a public event in early October.
According to RCO News Agency, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fitsu was targeted by an assassination attempt in May and survived.
According to Sputnik News agency, Fitso spoke in detail about the person who targeted him in an interview.
It is said that this man was arrested in a ceremony for the 80th anniversary of the “Dokla Pass” military operation. This man had attacked Fitso because of his “negative” approach to Ukraine.
According to Slovak police, the man was armed but did not enter the area where the politicians were. Rather, he went to the place of public gathering; where the metal scanner identified that he was carrying a weapon.
The attempt to assassinate Fitso, who survived, took place on May 15 after the government meeting. The prime minister of Slovakia is against the supply of weapons to Ukraine and the country’s membership in NATO.
The Slovak Ministry of Interior said at the time that this act of assassination was politically motivated and by people who are against the government’s actions, including stopping the shipment of weapons to Ukraine.
