Russia summoned the German ambassador
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia announced the summoning of the German ambassador in this country.
According to RCO News Agency, in a statement on Tuesday evening, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the summoning of the German ambassador to the country following the opening of the new NATO naval command center in the Baltic Sea region.
According to the report of the Russian News Agency, the ministry announced that “Russia expressed its firm objection to the establishment of the NATO center at the initiative of Berlin in Rostock and the expansion of NATO’s military infrastructure in the former East Germany will have the most negative consequences and will not remain unanswered.” “
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius yesterday inaugurated the new NATO command center called “Baltic Strategic Command Center” in the Baltic Sea in Rostock.
Germany, which has the largest naval force in the Baltic Sea in the NATO alliance, assumed the regional leadership role on October 1.
This new headquarters is responsible for coordinating the naval operations of the member states and leading the naval forces assigned by NATO in peace, crisis and war. NATO had already decided in 2017 to establish new naval bases.
The Baltic Sea is of strategic importance for NATO and is a central economic supply area for neighboring countries. Recently, the NATO military alliance has claimed to have observed more espionage by Russia in the Baltic Sea, also targeting the infrastructure of neighboring countries.
In addition to Germany, 11 countries Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, England, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland and Sweden will also be present in this command center.
According to the German Defense Minister, this command center is not a direct response to the conflict in Ukraine, but “this command center will play a key role in protecting the interests of NATO countries against any aggression, especially considering the proximity of Russia.”
In other statements during the inauguration of this command center, Pistorius claimed: “The main enemy of Putin (President of Russia) is our independence, freedom and democratic way of life.”
On the other hand, according to “Reuters” news agency, in peacetime, 60 soldiers from other countries and 120 German soldiers are present in this command center. In case of crisis or conflict, the number of employees can be increased up to 240 people.
