Joint statement of the third meeting of the “3+3” regional consultative mechanism

According to Isna, the third meeting of the 3+3 regional consultative mechanism was held today (Saturday) in Istanbul at the invitation of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and with the presence of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Foreign Minister Jihun Bayramov. Azerbaijan, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and ended with the issuance of a joint statement by the parties.

In this statement, a copy of which has been published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, it is stated that the parties, reviewing the previous meetings of this initiative in Moscow and Tehran, emphasized the importance of reassembling this regional cooperation platform amid the current complex developments that peace and stability endangers the region.

They also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the framework of the “3+3” consultative mechanism.

In this statement, it is stated: The parties, considering the vital necessity of good neighborly relations, which originates from joint efforts to recognize mutual interests, on the importance of peaceful resolution of disputes, respect for national sovereignty, political independence, territorial integrity, inviolability of international borders, non-interference in Internal affairs, prohibition of threats or resorting to force and severity of action and respect for human rights based on all the principles of the UN Charter were emphasized.

In line with the main role of regional countries and emphasizing the importance of dialogue, the use of regional cooperation opportunities, the ability to openly discuss major international issues, the parties discussed important regional issues.

In this statement, pointing out that the countries of this regional initiative praised the positive developments in the normalization and development of relations between all the countries of the region, it is stated: The parties, referring to the constructive role of regional economic cooperation in building regional trust, prosperity and stability through creating The opportunity for commercial and economic progress through the improvement of difficult issues is for the benefit of all the nations of the region.

These countries emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation and people-to-people contacts with the prospect of encouraging joint educational, scientific, touristic, cultural and sports projects.

It is stated in this statement: The parties agreed that the bilateral negotiations will complement the bilateral consultations in the direction of peace and sustainable economic development in the region. They stated that the “3+3” regional consultative mechanism would welcome the accession of Georgia.

The participants in this meeting discussed the spread of tensions in the region and strongly condemned the great violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter and international human rights, which endangers the peace and stability of the region, and called for respect for international laws and an end to all aggressions. and atrocities through an immediate ceasefire, also called for unhindered access to humanitarian aid for those affected.

Also, in this statement, referring to the importance of regional cooperation to fight the threat of terrorism, it is stated: By confirming the increase in terrorist and criminal activities in this region, the parties expressed their commitment to cooperation against all forms of terrorism according to the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

They also emphasized the importance of regular meetings of ministers of the “3+3” regional cooperation platform and consultations in areas of common interest in order to improve and integrate the atmosphere of trust and cooperation in the region.

The foreign ministers of these six countries agreed to reach an understanding through diplomatic channels about the place and date of the next meeting.

In the final part of this statement, it is stated: The foreign ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia thanked the Turkish foreign minister for welcoming them and successfully holding this meeting.
