Beijing protests against Washington’s “unilateral and illegal” sanctions
The spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry considered the sanctions imposed by Washington claiming Beijing’s arms support to Russia illegal and said that the US is trying to put pressure on China by abusing the conflict in Ukraine.
According to Isna, “Mao Ning”, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, announced today (Friday) that Beijing is against the illegal US sanctions against Chinese companies, which were imposed on the accusation of supporting Russia with weapons in the Ukraine war.
On Thursday, the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced that Washington had imposed sanctions on Russian and Chinese entities and an individual for their involvement in the production of military drones that the U.S. says are being used by Russia in the war in Ukraine. .
Mao Ning told reporters: “China strongly opposes unilateral and illegal US sanctions against Chinese companies and will never accept these baseless accusations and pressure from Washington.”
Stating that the United States is trying to put pressure on Beijing under the pretext of the Ukraine issue, he asked American officials to stop imposing unilateral and illegal sanctions against China.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman added: “China has never provided lethal weapons to any of the parties involved in the Ukraine war, and strictly controls the export of dual-use products, including drones.”
The West claims that China is trying to bypass the ban on direct arms support to Russia by sending equipment such as civilian drones – which have a civilian use but Russia can use them militarily – and help this country in the war in Ukraine.
