America announced a $425 million package for Ukraine
The US president unveiled a new $425 million military aid package to Ukraine and promised more support in the future.
According to RCO News Agency, this package includes missiles of the NASAMS and Stinger air defense systems, Himars launchers and artillery shells.
The White House announced that the United States would continue to work with “about 50 allies and partners” to “meet Ukraine’s immediate battlefield requirements.”
U.S. President Joe Biden spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday and promised to “intensify security assistance planning with international partners to ensure Ukraine is equipped to win.”
Zelensky thanked America for its support and wrote in a telegram: “President Biden’s leadership in unifying the world and the firm support of the two parties in America was very important and helped Ukraine win and defend its independence.”
The Ukrainian leader also unveiled a five-point “victory plan” on Wednesday that has yet to be formally endorsed by Kiev’s Western backers. NATO countries have so far rejected Zelensky’s calls to immediately invite Ukraine to join the US-led coalition or lift restrictions on the use of Western long-range weapons for strikes deep into Russia.
Ukraine argues that these restrictions, along with delays in arms deliveries, have contributed to its recent defeats on the battlefield, as Russian forces steadily make advances in the Donbass.
Meanwhile, Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, rejected Zelensky’s proposals and called them “a collection of incoherent slogans”. Moscow has repeatedly said that this conflict can only be resolved on its terms.
