Italy: Attacking UNIFIL forces is unacceptable
Simultaneously with the publication of reports about the Zionist regime’s renewed attack on UNIFIL forces, the Italian Prime Minister called any attack on UNIFIL unacceptable.
According to RCO News Agency, the Italian Prime Minister’s Office announced in a statement this evening that Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, in a conversation with her Zionist counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, called any attack on the UN peacekeeping force based in Lebanon (UNIFIL) “unacceptable.” He read.
Italy is one of the main contributors to UNIFIL.
According to the Italian Prime Minister’s Office, Meloni, in a phone conversation with Netanyahu, also called for the “full implementation” of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 on Lebanon and stressed the urgent need to reduce tensions in the region.
Recently, a number of UNIFIL forces were injured in the attacks of the Zionist regime on Lebanon.
A few hours ago, while announcing the arrival of 3 groups of soldiers of the Zionist regime in Lebanon, UNIFIL announced the injury of 15 of its forces following the attack by the forces of this regime.
UNIFIL pointed out that 2 Merkava tanks of the Zionist regime destroyed the main entrance of Ramieh and entered it by force.
This UN-affiliated force stated that it has asked the Zionist Army for an explanation regarding these shocking attacks.
Nevertheless, the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, in a message to the UN Secretary General, while expressing his desire for the withdrawal of UNIFIL forces from southern Lebanon, claimed: “refusal to withdraw UNIFIL forces from southern Lebanon means placing them as hostages in the hands of Hezbollah and endangering Their lives and the lives of our soldiers.”
Netanyahu’s interventionist statements are made in a situation where the spokesman of UNIFIL, referring to the request of the Zionist army for the withdrawal of UNIFIL from its bases in southern Lebanon, declared that no party can decide on its own the fate of UNIFIL forces’ mission in this area.
This spokesperson said UNIFIL forces continue with the mission assigned to them by the Security Council at the request of the Lebanese government; Therefore, UNIFIL’s mission in South Lebanon is a joint decision and no government or party can make a decision about this mission alone.
“Israeli forces asked us to leave our bases along the blue line,” he added. We unanimously decided to stay in our bases because the UN flag should be raised in this area. “It is necessary to maintain the international presence in southern Lebanon, our presence is important and we must implement the order that was recommended to us and during the last weeks many problems have arisen during its implementation.”
On September 23 (2nd Mehr), the Zionist army began its massive attacks on Lebanon with dozens of airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut and the cities and villages located in the south of Lebanon, and it continues these attacks.
In addition to this, the Zionist regime started efforts to infiltrate some border areas of Lebanon by land, which was met with fierce opposition from the Lebanese Hezbollah forces, and they thwarted all the efforts of the Zionist enemy to advance and occupy some southern villages bordering occupied Palestine. Lebanon’s Hezbollah has announced that it will continue its attacks against the Zionist regime in northern occupied Palestine until the Gaza war stops.
