The former first minister of Scotland and one of the main leaders of the independence movement of this country has died.
According to RCO News Agency, “Alex Salmond”, the former first minister of Scotland, one of the main leaders of the independence movement of this country and the separation of Scotland from England, died at the age of 69.
Famous for his decades of political activism for Scottish independence, he was described by British Prime Minister Kerr Starmer as an “unforgettable icon” in Scottish and English politics after his death.
Salmond’s last ministerial term ended in 2014 after voting on the issue of Scottish independence, which met with the approval of 45% of the citizens of this country.
Starmer said of the former first minister of Scotland: “He leaves an unforgettable legacy with his death. As First Minister of Scotland, Salmond deeply valued Scotland’s heritage, history, culture and society.”
Salmond was the First Minister of Scotland from 2007 to 2014 and the leader of the Scottish National Party from 1990 to 2000 and 2004 to 2014. He also studied economics and medieval history at St. Andrews University.
