The hope of the President of Armenia to sign a peace agreement with Baku in the coming months
The President of Armenia said that Baku and Yerevan can sign a peace treaty before the end of this year.
According to RCO News Agency, the President of Armenia Vahagen Khachaturian said that he believes that Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan have the opportunity to sign a peace agreement to end tensions by the end of this year.
Referring to the possibility of signing a peace treaty between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the President of Armenia claimed that Baku constantly threatens Yerevan and presents new requests for signing a peace treaty.
According to Khachaturian, it would be in the interest of both countries to sign a peace treaty before the annual UN Climate Summit (Cup 29) in Baku, but this may not happen. However, he said that in the near future, before the end of this year, the parties could sign the treaty.
The President of Armenia also said that despite the temporary escalation of tensions and provocative statements by both sides, behind the scenes, Baku and Yerevan attach great importance to the restoration of their relations and are working in this direction.
Stating that the Armenian authorities have always supported the peace treaty, he claimed that it is the Republic of Azerbaijan that creates problems and delays the agreement every time.
Referring to the statements of the Azerbaijani authorities that Armenia is preparing for war, he said that there is no alternative to peace, and despite these statements, Armenia has no intention of entering the war.
Referring to the developments in the South Caucasus and the world, Khachaturian said that long processes must be endured in order to achieve final peace, because if there is a delay, the day will come when the parties will find themselves in a state of war.
