Macron shared pictures of Ukrainians being trained by France
Macron shared images on social media showing French military instructors training Ukrainian troops to fight Russia.
According to RCO News Agency, French President Emmanuel Macron said that a 2,300-strong Ukrainian brigade will be equipped by the French army. Personnel are currently based in the Grand Est region in northeastern France.
According to Rashatudi News channel, this program was first announced in June. According to the government of Paris, about 1,500 French military personnel are active in training Ukrainian forces.
After the training, these Ukrainian forces will be armed with 128 armored vehicles, 18 Caesar cannons, 8 AMX-10 RC armored fighting vehicles, 10 trucks and 20 Milan anti-tank guided missile systems.
The French Air Force is training Ukrainian pilots and mechanics to operate the Mirage 2000 fighter jets, some of which may be delivered to Kiev next year.
In early 2024, Macron asked his NATO allies to deploy troops to Ukraine to support Kiev’s efforts. This idea was largely rejected by other Western countries.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is currently traveling to European countries and went to France on Thursday. On Saturday, he is scheduled to present his “Victory Plan” to a group of foreign arms donors at a gathering at the US Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
The meeting was postponed after US President Joe Biden did not attend to focus on the response to Hurricane Milton.
