United Nations: Israel should withdraw its troops from Lebanon – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Al Jazeera, the United Nations once again called for the reduction of tensions in the Middle East and the establishment of peace in the region.
Based on this, Rosemary DiCarlo, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, announced at the Security Council meeting: We ask Tel Aviv to end the bombing of Lebanon and withdraw its military forces from this country. As UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned earlier, we currently have time to reduce the level of tensions, but this time is running out.
He emphasized: We need to resort to diplomacy now in the Middle East. Now the representative of the United Nations in Lebanese affairs is trying to coordinate with the parties to the conflict in order to immediately de-escalate the tension and find a diplomatic solution to resolve the differences.
DiCarlo pointed out: We ask the parties to the conflict to adhere to their commitments and implement the resolutions of the Security Council, especially Resolution 1701, which was approved after the 2006 war. We are witnessing the widespread displacement of civilians in Lebanon, most of whom are women and children.
He announced that 250,000 people fled from Lebanon to Syria and added: We must move Lebanon and the entire region away from the edge of the abyss.
