Hungary: Ukraine joining NATO means the beginning of World War III
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary warned: Ukraine’s accession to NATO in the current situation will be the beginning of the third world war.
According to RCO News Agency, “Peter Ciarto”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, noted today (Thursday) on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum: If Ukraine is accepted as a member of NATO under the current conditions, it will mean the beginning of World War III. We have always opposed any action that would provoke a direct conflict between Russia and NATO.
According to the TASS News agency, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his displeasure at the previous NATO meeting in Vilnius in July 2023 with the reluctance of the member states to set a timetable for inviting Ukraine to join the alliance. Western media then reported that US officials and other NATO leaders were angered by Zelensky’s harsh remarks. After the summit, Ukraine was assured that it would join the coalition once it met the necessary conditions.
However, Brussels did not elaborate on any deadline or time frame for Kyiv’s accession. NATO has repeatedly emphasized that Ukraine cannot join the alliance while a country is at war.
Yesterday, Hungarian Minister of Affairs Arjah stated in a televised press conference: Most of the NATO member countries do not support Ukraine’s membership in this alliance, and even many of them express their skepticism and opposition in this regard in their secret talks.
Ciarto went on to describe the behavior of a significant part of NATO members towards the Ukrainians as very unfair, because, according to him, these countries are not speaking honestly about their real position.
Hungary, unlike many EU member states, has rejected sending any lethal weapons to Ukraine and is focused on a peaceful solution to the conflict. This country has also repeatedly criticized the European Union’s sanctions against Russia, and its prime minister has described the said sanctions and restrictions as a “failure” that only worsens the energy crisis.
