Venezuelan opposition candidate aspiring for the presidency
The opposition candidate of Venezuela, who claimed victory in the recent presidential elections in this country, said that he would like to return to this country on January 10 of next year and take charge as the “elected president”.
According to RCO News Agency, “Edmundo Gonzalez”, the opposition candidate who was present at a business event in Madrid, Spain, in his first public speech after fleeing from Venezuela, claimed that he is the elected president of his country and is temporarily in Spain.
According to the Reuters News agency, he claimed to reporters: “I want to return to Venezuela as soon as possible where I will establish democracy, so I will return to Caracas on July 10.”
Venezuela’s opposition claims that the presidential election was rigged, allowing Nicolas Maduro to become president again, and that it was actually Gonzalez who won.
Gonzalez fled to Spain on September 9, 2024, just one week after Venezuelan authorities issued an arrest warrant and charged him with conspiracy and other crimes.
