Lavrov: Israel seeks to create a direct conflict between Iran and America

According to Isna, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who is in New York to attend the 79th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, addressed several issues in a press conference after his speech at the United Nations.

In his press conference, referring to the tensions in West Asia and the actions of the Zionist regime, he stated: “Several countries want to bring Iran into conflict in the Middle East and eventually create an all-out war in the region. Of course, in the meetings held on the sidelines of the United Nations, much attention was paid to the problems of the Middle East, the latest update of the conflicts both directly in the Palestinian territories and in Lebanon, Syria and the problems in the territory of Iraq.

Lavrov stated again: “Also, a lot of attention was paid to the efforts of some countries to force Iran to participate in a large-scale war in West Asia.”

According to the Russian News agency TASS, Lavrov also said that on the sidelines of the United Nations, he discussed with his colleagues about the conflicts in Africa, Sudan, other regions of the continent and Afghanistan, and added: “Of course, we used the opportunity to discuss our current assessments.” to express what is happening in relation to the crisis in Ukraine.

He also said: “Israel wants America to enter a new war in West Asia and a direct war between Tehran and Washington.” In this regard, it (the Zionist regime) will not spare any effort to provoke Iran and Hezbollah.”

Lavrov clarified: “Nevertheless, the heads of Iran and its leaders behave very responsibly in the current situation.”

The statement of the Russian Foreign Minister comes while it was previously reported that Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Russian counterpart met and talked on the sidelines of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

On the other hand, the Russian Foreign Minister continued his press conference by referring to the recent statement of US President Joe Biden in support of the Zionist regime and this regime’s action in the assassination of Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary General of Hezbollah, and described the martyrdom of Sayyid Tasat as “Execution of Justice”, clarified: “What happened in Lebanon was political assassination.”

Lavrov added: “Nevertheless, I heard that the American president, in defense of this action, described the political assassination as a right decision and the execution of justice, and this issue shows the different approaches of countries in dealing with this conflict.”

He also said: “Zelensky (President of Ukraine) seeks to create a direct conflict between NATO member states and Russia.”

The Russian Foreign Minister also stated: “For Russia, people are important, not “land”, and they (people) are the main reason for the continuation of the crisis in Ukraine. “To solve this crisis, its basic roots must be solved.”

Condemning Ukraine’s action to distort Russian culture, he said: “Ukraine is taking measures similar to the Nazi regime. “Despite the war against the Russian language, literature, Orthodox religion and other cultural aspects, the Kyiv constitution still claims to guarantee the protection of Russian minorities.”

He again addressed the issue of Palestine and the Zionist regime and said: “I do not see any desire on the part of Israel to implement any peace plan, whatever it may be.”

Earlier, during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, the Russian Foreign Minister called for an end to the killing of Palestinians by the Zionist regime using American weapons and said that Washington always denied its role in world events and finally made no attempt to distort events and actions. The senior Russian diplomat also warned that “the Middle East is on the verge of a big war, which some parties are strongly interested in” with an implicit reference to the tensions created by the US and the Zionist regime.

He also said that “the war path that Israel has chosen will not cause Israelis to return to the north.”

Addressing the US representative, Lavrov said: “Without your support for Israel, it is possible to stop the war in Gaza.”
