Nationwide strike and demonstration by Spaniards in support of Palestine
Unions and non-governmental organizations of Spain organized a nationwide strike in protest against the genocide and occupation of the Zionist regime.
According to Isna, more than 200 non-governmental organizations and unions in Spain started a 24-hour nationwide strike on Friday with the slogan “strike against genocide and occupation in Palestine”.
According to the “Middle East Monitor” database, while this nationwide strike was being carried out, demonstrations were held in Madrid, the capital of Spain, and large cities such as Barcelona and Bilbao. Student unions also participated in this anti-Zionist strike and demonstration.
These unions and non-governmental organizations asked the Spanish government to immediately cut diplomatic, commercial and military relations with Tel Aviv so as not to participate in the ethnic cleansing carried out by the Zionist regime.
The mentioned unions also called for demonstrations in front of factories producing military equipment as well as the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain in the city of Madrid.
“We organized this strike with the support of many non-governmental organizations in order to answer the demands of the Palestinian workers,” said Carmen Arniz, a senior official of the National Labor Confederation, which is one of the organizers of the strike.
“The biggest action we as trade unions can take is to implement a nationwide strike,” Arniz stressed. “Such a strike may be symbolic, but it is a significant action.”
He stated: “The message we want to send to the Spanish government and the world is to cut off all ties with Israel and condemn Israel for its complete violation of international laws and human rights.”
He also emphasized the need to continue protest activities around the world in support of Palestine.
