Antonio Guterres: We failed to stop the biggest massacre in history – Mehr News Agency | RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Al Jazeera, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres stated: We humiliated the people of Gaza and failed to support them. 224 UNRWA staff have been killed in Gaza in the highest level of carnage and bloodshed the United Nations has ever witnessed.
He continued that deceptive advertisements were made to destroy UNRWA’s image and destroy its support strategies, and efforts were also made to expel its employees from Gaza, which failed.
Guterres expressed that he has complete confidence in UNRWA’s impartiality and that many countries that had stopped funding the agency moderated their positions.
The Secretary General of the United Nations noted that a cease-fire should be established in Gaza and the prisoners should be released, humanitarian aid should reach the people, and the negotiations for the formation of two governments should be resumed.
He said that UNRWA plays a vital role in providing support and shelter for millions of Palestinians suffering in Gaza, so relief teams in their centers should have constant support.
