Schultz: Berlin will not give “Taurus” missiles to Ukraine/I promise! – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to the Mehr news agency, quoted by Tass, the Prime Minister of Germany, Olaf Schultz, about the possibility of sending “Taurus” missiles with a range of more than 500 km to Ukraine, claimed that such weapons will not be provided to Kiev.
Shultz said in one of the cities of the state of Brandenburg: “Although many people are pressuring me, I will not provide (Ukraine) with a cruise missile capable of reaching Moscow.” From where I am, I assure you that I will stand by my word.
The Prime Minister of Germany claimed once again that it is necessary to find a way for a peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine and added: Now is the time to examine the possibilities in this regard.
However, he denied that peace talks could be an alternative to Germany’s support for Ukraine, saying that such a notion is “naive”!
Kiev has long asked Germany to send Taurus missiles to Ukraine. This missile is compared to the English “Shadow of the Storm” missiles that were previously provided to Ukraine, with the difference that this missile made by Germany and Sweden has a slightly longer range.
Last Thursday, Germany updated the weapons it has provided to Ukraine, including 22 Leopard 1A5 tanks with spare parts, three Gepart self-propelled defense systems, drones and other weapons. Also, reports indicate that Berlin intends to allocate up to 379 million euros of surplus military aid to Ukraine in the short term.
Germany, as the second largest arms supporter of Ukraine after the United States, has committed to providing a total of 28 billion euros in military aid to Kiev. Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that providing arms to Ukraine has not weakened Russia’s will and will not turn the tide in Ukraine’s favor.
