Issuing an indictment against 20 people in Türkiye on charges of spying for the Mossad
The Turkish judicial system demanded a prison sentence for the arrested spies.
According to Isna, the Turkish judicial system has accused 20 people of spying for the Zionist regime and demanded a prison sentence for them from 19 to 45 years.
The Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office clarified that 16 of these people, who are all accused of collaborating with the Mossad, the spy organization of the Zionist regime, are currently in custody and have been spying on foreign nationals living in Turkey on behalf of the Mossad.
According to the indictment issued against them, Mossad recruited the defendants through required advertisements on social media and messaging applications.
According to the report of Anatolia News agency, the Istanbul prosecutor’s office also says that the defendants collected confidential information, including the addresses and pictures of Palestinian citizens and people affiliated with Hamas, and shared them with Israeli intelligence officers.
The indictment indicates that this information could potentially be used for future operations, such as executions or kidnappings.
According to the indictment, the defendants were paid for their services in cryptocurrencies and international money, methods reportedly used by terrorist groups.
Amal Salami is one of these defendants who said that at first a person claiming to be from Germany contacted him and offered him money for his work. Then he recorded videos and sent them to that person as an experiment. He later received assignments from someone else, including filming Istanbul’s Suleymaniye Mosque and photographing an apartment complex in the city.
He also said that he had prepared and submitted a report on which mobile phone companies in Turkey offer better service.
The indictment describes the crimes against them as “political or military espionage,” and the trial is scheduled to begin in November.
In January of this year, Turkish intelligence agents conducted an operation against the Mossad in eight cities across the country.
