Schultz: The attack on Nord Stream was terrorist in nature
The Prime Minister of Germany paid attention to the process of the investigation about the explosion in the Nord Stream 2 gas transmission pipeline and said: “This attack was a terrorist attack. “I demand an impartial and transparent investigation from all German security agencies.”
According to RCO News Agency, German Chancellor Olaf Schultz addressed the German citizens at the beginning of his press conference today in the city of Prenzlau, located in eastern Germany: “Giving the Ukrainian armed forces the ability to attack deep into Russian territory is a problematic matter and “Berlin will not allow this.”
According to the Russian News agency Tass, the German chancellor added: “Germany’s opposition to sending long-range missiles to Ukraine remains, Taros missiles will not be sent to Ukraine.”
Schultz clarified: “This restriction also includes other weapons with the ability to attack the depth of Russian soil, and we will not provide such weapons to Ukraine, and the decision of other countries will not affect the decision of Germany.”
Ukraine asked the western countries to allow Kiev to use the weapons sent by NATO member states in the attack deep into the Russian territory.
In this regard, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that the issuance of such a license by Western countries will put them directly at war with Russia.
The United States and Britain have provided Ukraine with Atcoms and Typhoon long-range missiles, respectively, but Germany has repeatedly refused Kiev’s request to send the German Taurus long-range missiles, as Berlin worries about escalating tensions between Germany and Russia. .
In response to a question about the conversation between the British Prime Minister and the American President in Washington about Ukraine’s attack deep into Russian territory, Schultz’s spokesman said earlier: “The range of the weapons that the United States and the United Kingdom are currently discussing is much greater than the weapons that Germany (to Ukraine) has sent.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously told reporters that Ukraine would not be able to carry out attacks inside Russia without the help of the West, as it would need satellite information and incoming flight data to do so. According to the Russian president, the current debate among NATO countries is not only about Kiev’s potential use of Western long-range weapons, but they should also ask themselves whether to directly intervene in the conflict in Ukraine.
In another part of his press conference, the Prime Minister of Germany paid attention to the investigation process regarding the explosion in the Nord Stream 2 gas transmission pipeline and said: “This attack was a terrorist attack.” “I demand an impartial and transparent investigation from all German security agencies.”
He added: “We demand justice against the perpetrators of this attack.”
Almost 2 years ago, several explosions in the Baltic Sea caused a global uproar. A short time later, it became clear that three of the four branches of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, which were built to supply gas from Russia to Germany, had been destroyed.
Germany has launched a new investigation to discover the cause of the explosion, and now, according to a recent Politico report, German investigators believe that the main suspect is a Ukrainian diving instructor named “Volodymyr Z.” He recently lived near Warsaw. Investigators have accused him of carrying out the attack along with five other Ukrainians, but the suspect fled to his home country of Ukraine before he could be arrested.
Meanwhile, German investigators have accused Poland of obstructing a European arrest and search warrant issued by Germany’s federal court in June.
