Le Pen to Macron: hold a referendum!
Marine Le Pen urged Macron to hold referendums on key issues such as immigration and suggested that giving people the right to vote directly might help break the political deadlock in France.
According to RCO News Agency, French President Emmanuel Macron recently appointed Michel Barnier, 73 center-right and former foreign minister, as the person responsible for forming a new government in this country.
But analysts say France is headed for a period of instability as Barnier holds power that is fragile and dependent on the support of Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Front party.
According to AFP, a left-wing coalition, which after the election is considered the largest political bloc in France, is putting pressure on Barnier.
More than 100,000 left-wing supporters marched across France on Saturday against Barnier’s appointment and condemned Macron’s actions.
Le Pen also said that her party will not be in the new cabinet.
On Sunday, he urged Macron to hold referendums on key issues including immigration, health care and security and give people a direct vote.
Le Pen continued: “The Popular Front party will definitely support a measure aimed at giving the people the power to vote directly. “Macron himself is in the turmoil and chaos he created and he must keep our democracy alive.”
The leader of the French far-right party continued to note that he is monitoring Barnier’s every move and added: “If the French are forgotten or mistreated once again in the coming weeks, we will criticize the government without wasting time.” We expect new parliamentary elections to be held in France within a year. “I think France needs an overwhelming majority.”
