Ukrainian lawmaker: We do not have funds for the salaries of army soldiers
The senior lawmaker of the Ukrainian Parliament warned that the budget of the Ministry of Defense of this country for paying the salaries of the army members has been exhausted.
According to RCO News Agency, Roksolana Pidlasa, head of the Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, warned this Friday that the Ministry of Defense does not have the budget to pay the salaries of the members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in September.
According to “Sputnik” News agency, Pidlasa stated in a speech on a TV program: “The Ministry of Defense informed us that it does not have enough funds to pay the salaries of combat forces until September 20. However, we will vote to amend the government budget before this date. “At the moment, I cannot give you the exact date of the Verkhovna Rada meeting for this purpose, but we expect this vote to be held on September 17 or 18.”
The head of this Ukrainian parliamentary committee said that Kiev has faced problems due to the delay of the United States in paying aid to Ukraine since the beginning of this year. He said that as a result of this process, Ukraine has been forced to purchase weapons with its own funds, including the funds intended for the payment of soldiers’ salaries.
Previously, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmihal, announced in August an emergency shortage of more than 12 billion dollars for the country’s military needs.
