The main climbing routes to Damavand include the northern, northeastern, western and southern fronts:
- North Front: It passes through Sioleh and Dobi Sel glaciers and starts from the large rock in the southwest of Nandel village. This route has shelters at 4000 and 4700 meters and does not have drinking water.
- Northeast Front: It starts from Haji Dela village and after passing Gosfandsera and Dasht Chaman, it reaches the refuge of Takht Fereydoun. Returning from this route is usually done from the direction of Ghazneh village.
- Western Front: It starts from the parking lot at an altitude of 3400 meters and reaches Simorgh shelter. The continuation of the path on the western ridge leads to the peak and there is water in the shelter.
- South Front: It is the most common and busiest route. It starts from a crossroads and after passing the mosque, Gosfandsera and the third bargah, it reaches the southern direct ridge and the peak. The ice waterfall on this route is the highest waterfall in the Middle East.
Finally, the easiest route to climb is the south face and the most difficult is the north face.
