History of Shiraz Eram Garden
There is a lot of mystery about the true history and construction of the Eram Garden. No one knows exactly in which year and by whom this garden was first built. But since during the time of Sultan Sanjar, other gardens were built in Iran, the construction of Eram Garden is also attributed to this Seljuk king according to speculations.
In the history of Al-Injo, Al-Muzaffar and the Safavid golden era and the remaining travelogues from that time, there are references to Eram Garden in Shiraz and its gardens. In fact, the oldest documents that indicate the existence of this garden are related to the 10th and 11th centuries of Hijri. In the following years, this mansion was renovated and restored by Karim Khan for the use of the leaders of the Zand dynasty, and after the fall of Zandiyeh, it was used by the Qashqai clan and then the Qajar as the seat of government.
Later, in the same Qajar era, it was bought by Haj Nasir al-Molk Shirazi, the ruler of Fars at the time and the founder of the famous Nasir al-Molk Mosque, and the current Eram Bagh building was built by his order and supervision. After the death of Haj Nasir al-Molk, this property was managed by his heirs for a while, until several years later, it was confiscated by the Pahlavi government and handed over to Farah Pahlavi. At the same time, the building and the garden of the complex were fundamentally renovated and then donated to Shiraz University. Today, the building department is under the control of the Faculty of Law and the garden is under the control of the Faculty of Agriculture of this university.

Eram Garden Mansion
The final mansion of the building, which has been added to the lands of the complex, has been placed in the center of the Eram Garden area, and was built during the Qajar rule. This building was designed by Mohammad Hasan Shirazi, one of the famous and expert architects of Shiraz, in 3 floors with the influence of Safavid and Qajar architecture.
On the first floor, there is a cellar and a reservoir. The water stream that flows in the garden continues to this cellar and in addition to creating a relaxing environment, it also helps to cool the air in the house in the summer. Among the beauties of this floor, we can mention the carved columns, ceiling and wall decorations and tiles decorated with images of Khosrow and Shirin, which we cannot see because the building is closed.

On the second and third floors, there are corridors, rooms, and a large hall, where Qajar era paintings and plasters can be seen in their corners. But perhaps the most beautiful part of the second and third floor is the high ceiling of the porch, the breathtaking Qejri tiles, the painted capitals and the unique and unique plasterwork, which fortunately can be seen from inside the garden.
One of the wonderful parts of Shiraz Eram Garden is the front part of the building, which consists of 5 circular arches. On these arches, images such as the image of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar on a white horse, Khosrow and Shirin, Yusuf and Zuleikha, Suleiman and the Queen of Saba are engraved with lively and beautiful colors, which are taken from religious stories and Nizami and Ferdowsi poems. These tilings have not been repeated in any of the buildings in Shiraz, and this indicates the uniqueness of this garden among other historical monuments.
The structure of Aram Garden in Shiraz
The land of Eram garden is in the shape of a rectangle, which used to be surrounded by a straw wall. But now it is protected by a fence. When you enter the garden, if you look to your left, you will see the main passage of the garden, which is greeted by seronaz trees in two parallel rows. If you look more closely, you will see the tallest and most robust Saronaz, which is the oldest in Shiraz and according to some traditions, it is several hundred years old.
If you pass this passage, you will see that there is a pond with an area of 335 meters in front of the garden mansion. This pond is made of 18 pieces of stone and it is said that its main stone was left from the Ilkhanid era. The pond and the streams connected to it, in addition to the effect they have given the garden, also perform the task of watering the garden trees and are responsible for the greenery and freshness of the garden all these years. Also, on the 4 sides of the main pond of the garden, 4 palm trees have been planted and with their greatness and splendor, they have completed the picture before your eyes.
