According to Heritage Daily; During their recent excavations at the Ho Dynasty Citadel, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, archaeologists have found a valuable and stunning collection of gold-plated pottery.
These rare findings, which were found in the central part of this ancient fortress and near the stone dragon statues, ended the long discussions of the researchers and revealed the exact location of the main hall of the royal palace. The elegance used in the construction of these pieces, which still have a remarkable shine after more than 6 centuries, shows the peak of the art of metalworking and pottery in the late 14th century.
Among these works, the pottery decorations in the form of “Bodhi leaf” decorated with embossed dragon motifs and covered with a layer of pure gold, attract more attention than other objects. A detailed examination of the distribution of these zarandod pieces in the excavation site allowed the archeology team to reconstruct the map of the royal ceremonial hall.
In its time, this hall was the main center of political power in the region. According to the experts, the use of gold in the architectural decorations of that era is not only a symbol of the shock of the kings, but also a testimony to the economic prosperity of Vietnam during the short but effective period of the “Ho” dynasty, which has now risen from the dust after centuries.
