The second edition of the “Oceania Photo Contest 2025” (Oceania Photo Contest 2025) was accompanied by a significant growth in the participation of photographers throughout the region. More than 3,500 photos from all over the continent of Oceania entered the competition; An increase of 87%, which shows that the interest in the visual narrative of the nature of Oceania is flowing more than before among professional photographers and nature lovers.
This competition is held with the aim of recording manifestations of wildlife, natural landscapes, human-environment interaction and less-seen narratives from the lands of Oceania. The photos, while aesthetically impressive, carry valuable information about the biodiversity and environmental challenges of the region.
The title of “Grand Prize Winner” was assigned to a shocking image of the moment a humpback whale caught in chains was saved; The photo that “Miesa Grobbelaar” (Miesa Grobbelaar) recorded it in breathtaking conditions. This image, in addition to its artistic value, narrates the deep connection between man and nature and the shared responsibility in protecting vulnerable ecosystems.
Other selected works also include a wide range of topics; From the pristine wildlife of tropical islands to coastal landscapes, marine habitats, endangered species and moments that show human interaction with the environment in a real and unprocessed atmosphere. (natureaustralia)
