One of the oldest tourist attractions in Dubai, the Deira Clocktower, is being renovated. Originally named the Dubai Clock Tower, this historic building was built in 1965 and now has a completely modern look.
This building, built at the intersection of Umm Harir Road and Al Maktoum Road, has been transformed by Dubai Municipality, as well as the roundabout on it.
To improve the appearance of this structure, colorful lighting and green space around it can be seen along with improving the design of the fountain.
Dawood Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said: Dubai Municipality has developed development plans for all prominent landmarks throughout the emirate, including Deira Clock Tower Roundabout, which is recognized as one of the notable monuments and architectural monuments of the city. By conserving Dubai’s historical and architectural monuments and protecting them for future generations, the project will help the municipality achieve its goals of implementing high-level sustainable urban planning that will improve the city’s attractiveness.
This tower is 20 meters high and before the renovation, it looks like a spider with four legs. With four faces facing four different directions and a fountain on top, the Deira Clock Tower is no ordinary clock.
Deira Clock Tower was considered the main tourist attraction in Dubai before the construction of Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa.
