Red Gold Festival; Breathtaking pictures of saffron harvest in Qaenaat

Harvesting of saffron, the red gold of South Khorasan, is underway in the fields of Qaenat. The cultivated area of ​​this product in the province is more than 16 thousand hectares and its high quality has made South Khorasan one of the hubs of saffron production in Iran and the world.

The average cultivation of saffron is about 10 tons per hectare, from which usually about 10 kg of dry saffron is obtained. Each worker in the saffron fields can harvest between 5 and 7 kilos of saffron flowers daily.
