Today, the representatives in the floor of the Islamic Council, in a reminder to the Ministers of the Interior, Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, demanded to prevent the export and smuggling of red soil from Hormoz Island.
The soil of Hormuz Island made headlines this spring due to harvesting by tourists and smuggling. From the discovery of 40 kilograms of soil and rocks of the island from travelers to the soil return campaign, there was a wide margin that was created and some tourists even sent Hormuz soil by mail.
These cases caused the Hormoz soil national registration case to be launched and the director general of cultural heritage of Hormozgan province announced the action for the national registration of the historical and natural landscape of Hormoz Island. Environmental activists also warned about the possibility of losing the island’s soil and texture, because it will take years for the island’s bed to restore itself.
Of course, some other experts criticized that before dealing with travelers, those who smuggle Hormuz soil to other countries should be dealt with legally. Although this issue was denied for a long time, today 47 members of the Parliament warned the Ministers of the Interior, Cultural Heritage and Tourism about the need to prevent the export and smuggling of red soil from Hormoz Island.
