“Lorenzo Tugnoli”, a famous Italian photographer, has collected a series of thought-provoking images of the daily life of the Afghan people between 2019 and 2023, that is, in the midst of peace negotiations, the collapse of the republic and the return of the Taliban to power.
Tonioli’s photographs highlight the contradictions and complexities of Afghan life today. Instead of focusing on traditional reporting, he takes a deep and thoughtful journey to show a side of this country that is rarely seen in the news; Crowded markets, children in the classroom and women who are looking for a bright future amid difficult conditions.
Tonioli’s images of war-scarred cities and regions, as well as the overcrowding in rural clinics, all show the lasting damage in areas that were once on the front lines of war. Finally, his collection is an invitation to see Afghanistan as a home of people who, despite the challenges, have a passion for life. (guardian)
