The photographer from Mexico City captures poetic black and white images of marine wildlife that are worth seeing.
Christian Vizl, an underwater photographer, was born in Mexico City and has spent 30 years of his life artistically documenting underwater life. This artist takes incredibly beautiful black and white photos of sea creatures and uses light and shadow to show different aspects of their lives.
In the book “Silent Kingdom” by Christian Wiesel, beautiful pictures of marine wildlife such as fish, sea lions, mermaids, etc. are printed. He says about his works:
I have always loved the ocean and photography. I started photographing when I was a teenager and was inspired by the masters of black and white photography. In 2010, we went deep sea with my cameraman friend and when he gave me the camera, I loved the feeling of having the camera underwater. That’s when I decided to buy my first underwater camera.
As a poet uses words to create a poem, a photographer uses light to capture attractive images. When I photograph underwater, one of my goals is to create poetic images with the help of light. I believe that black and white style is the best way to do this.
Christian Wiesel says about the experience of diving and photography in the ocean:
I have dedicated my life to exploring the amazing beauty of the ocean and on this incredible journey, my connection with nature has deepened. Unfortunately, throughout my life, I have witnessed the devastation caused by humans on this planet.
Today, the world’s oceans are in serious danger. Overfishing, pollution, plastic waste, climate change, etc. have exposed the wildlife of the seas and oceans to harm.
Christian Wiesel believes that photography can help promote empathy and create change. His main goal as a photographer is to create beautiful images of animals to spark love in the viewer. In fact, humans should understand that their lives and health are related to all animals, and caring for the seas and oceans and respecting them should become a continuous thing in their lives.
