Electric cars have been traveling on Australian roads for years, and now the coastal city of Byron Bay, north of New South Wales, Australia, have a new option for clean transportation; The world’s first full -fledged train is traveling in the city. The train supplies the energy it needs with 1.5 kW solar panel on its roof and another 2 kW on the station’s warehouse roof. (CER.gov.au)
The solar train is two vaginal and belongs to the year 5. The completely renovated train travels between the city center of the city of Birronb and the developing neighborhood of North Beach and offers an alternative option for daily commuting, shopping and recreation trips. The project is run by the non -profit company by the Bay Railroad.

To electric the Bironab train, one of the two diesel engines with two electric motors, an inverter and a set of lithium -ion batteries were replaced. Solar panels on the roof of the wagons are specifically designed for ceiling curvature and generate up to 1.5 kW. Solar panels on the ceiling of the warehouse also generate another 5 kW of electricity, which are used to charge the batteries. Even the train brake system produces energy; The brake force is returned to the batteries.
The solar system of the train is so efficient that not only feeds the train, but also the surplus of electricity generation enters the national network. The train’s movement consumes less than a quarter of the generated electricity, and the rest is shipped to the city of BironBia through a green energy company.
