The Desert X Alula visit in Saudi Arabia, designed by Kwy.studio, is an amazing example of the integration of natural architectural creativity and natural beauty.
The center, with a strategic location at the end of a narrow valley, is almost hidden among rocky structures and offers a quiet yet inspiring experience. The location of the building in a natural impasse not only determines its location, but also the formation of interior spaces and has created a perfect link with the surrounding landscape. From here, visitors have an open and no obstacle to the West, which creates a significant conflict with the walls of the valley in the north, east and south. These landscapes have highlighted the layered rocks and made them an integral part of the experience of being there.
One of the key features of the design is the 2 degree rotation of the central courtyard. This spatial rotation creates a special dynamics and creates shade porches in the east and west. Also, the entrances of the main sections such as cafes, shops and event halls are formed in the north and south. The diagonal viewing angle of this rotation makes unique framing towards the landscape around the creation and bond between architecture and nature (Theinsspirationgrid).
