Beyond tourist destinations such as Santorini and Mykonos, there are many less well -known islands in Greece that give travelers a genuine and relaxing experience. Among them, the two small islands of Arki and Marathi in the Dodecanesese Assembly are an ideal choice to escape the crowd of tourists; But in the same assembly, the beautiful and lasting paradise is “Tilos”; A dream destination for those who want to rotate in silence, between the spectacular villages and the clean beaches. Below we will introduce the island of Tilos. (Islands)
About Tilus Island
Tilos, as the world’s first “Island without waste”, has received its certificate from the Mission Zero Academy in Brussels. On the island, the first Greek hybrid power plant was set up and the implementation of the “Just Go Zero” project has led to complete elimination of landfill sites; That is, everything is used on the island or reuse, or recycled and compost.
Tilos is the first “neutral energy” island in the Mediterranean, not only reducing its carbon footprint, but also reducing the cost of its residents with the savings. When visiting, you can buy a fabric bag for shopping and carefully separate your garbage into the special organic, unpublished and unprocessed waste tanks.

Tilos Island Beaches
Tilos Island has a spectacular beach, some with cars and some only on foot or boat. Livadia, located in the island port, is the most equipped beach of Tilos and has cafes, stores, sunflows and beach umbrellas. The Eristos Beach is very popular because of its breadth and transparent waters, and Agios Antonios is an ideal place for watching sunset. You can also see wild peacocks on the placa beach.

Spectacles of Tilos Island
The two main villages are Tilos, Liyadia (Island Port) and Megalo Chorio, the center of the island. In Megalosho, you can visit a medieval castle and watch the stunning views of the island from its church. Agios Panteleimonas with eighteenth -century wall paintings is one of its most spectacular. In the cave of Kharkadio Cave and its near -fossil museum, you will be introduced to the remains of dwarf elephants discovered in year 6.
One of the special attractions of Tilos is the deserted village of Mikro Chorio, which was uninhabited in the 1980s. You can walk between its abandoned houses for days and visit the village’s local café at night. Various and varying degrees of hiking trails have also made the island a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure.
