Quoted by ISNA; Mojtaba Pourshafi said:
The city of Zawwara is one of the historical and valuable cities of the country whose texture is listed in the national monuments list, but unfortunately last night about 5 % of the city’s historical context, which is in the context of national registration, was destroyed.
He added that the cause of the destruction can not be determined yet, adding:
We need more careful expert reviews to determine the exhaustion of structures or other factors, including adjacent construction activities, have been involved in the incident.
The head of the Ardestan Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department, pointing out that one of the possibilities raised in the demolition of monuments is new construction next to them:
Near the suburb, the municipality of Zawara issued a construction permit and the adjacent property owner had excavated and implemented foundations.
Pourshafi added:
It cannot be absolutely forbidden to build near monuments, but in this particular case one of the neighboring buildings was demolished and the owner kept part of the wall with only temporary wooden beams and structures.
He said.
Given the available evidence, it is likely that the adjacent owner’s failure will be involved in the incident, but the final conclusion requires careful expert examination.
The head of the Ardestan Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department emphasized:
There is no plan to remove this monument and will begin emergency restoration next week. Immediately thereafter, the reconstruction of the demolished department will be on the agenda.
