The excavators hit the historic cemetery with a shovel!

Mansour Mehrzad, Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Kurdistan, said:

Following the continuous and intelligent monitoring of the province’s historic sites, an unauthorized excavation device was observed in the cemetery and the security forces were immediately dispatched to the site.

Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Kurdistan added:

Last year, in collaboration with the Sanandaj Municipality and NGOs, a special supervisory system was installed in the Abidar Belt, which had an effective role in discovering this illegal action.

She said:

The images recorded by the cameras provide the necessary documentation to identify offenders and the case has been filed.
