This historical photo shows an aerial view of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in the first year of its inauguration (1). The museum building is located on the west side of Laleh Garden (former Farah Park) on Amirabad Street.
Modern structures with bulk concrete volumes and broad staircases are well seen in this view. Outdoor space and Laleh Park trees are around the museum. Kamran Diba, a prominent Iranian architect, is the designer of the building. There are also several cars and pedestrians around the building that evoke the space of the solar decade in Tehran.
Kamran Diba is inspired by desert windshields in the design of the building and the roof of the building has a windfall light that directs natural light into the galleries.
