Quoted by ISNA; The skeletons of about dozens of war -torn men have been discovered in Peru and have revealed new evidence of ancient conflicts.
Livesins wrote that the ancient site of the discovery of these skeletons, El Curata, is located in the Atiko River Valley, south of the Peruvian coast, and was home to Chuquibamba or Aruni between the years 1 and 2 AD. A people who lived in the area before and after the arrival of the Spaniards. With the exception of the many rocks that the areans have on the walls of the caves in the region, archaeologists have little information about the people.
But Jazsef Szykulski of the Archaeological Institute of the University of Poland, along with their group, began excavations in October, and discovered a large circular stone tomb, including four male, female and children’s skeletons.
This mass tomb was accompanied by pieces of pottery, bone and stone tools, corn clusters and textiles. Initial analysis of the skeletons, which were wrapped in fabrics, showed that all of them were killed in injuries that correspond to the wounds from the battle.
The bodies were buried with precious gifts and objects, so “Szykulski”, an archaeologist at the Polish Archaeological Institute, concluded that they belonged to the victorious side in the battle and that their survivors had buried the victims by conducting respectful ceremonies.
Szykulski and his group will continue to work in Peru by the end of April. They are currently scanning 3D skulls, protecting the textiles discovered, and examining the pottery and wooden objects obtained from the tomb.
