A court in Germany banned the sale of “Dubai chocolate” produced in Türkiye in this country.
A court in the city of Cologne, Germany, banned the sale of chocolate produced in Türkiye under the brand “Dubai Chocolate” because it was misleading for consumers.
This court ruling was issued based on the complaint of an economic activist and businessman named “Andreas Wilmers”. The court issued this verdict after examining the handmade chocolate “Alian Dubai” which is sold by supermarket chains in Germany.

In explaining its verdict, the court said that adding the word “Made in Türkiye” on the product packaging is not enough to correct the misleading impression of consumers. The court explained that the consumer assumes that this chocolate was produced in Dubai. According to the court’s decision, the plaintiff’s legal expenses will be borne by the condemned party, that is, “Aldi Sood” supermarkets.
Andreas Wilmers, a complainant and importer of chocolate from Dubai to Germany, has taken legal action referring to complaints about the taste of this product, which has become popular on social networks. The economic activist had previously submitted a similar request in Switzerland, which led to a change in packaging. He is currently considering legal action and a new lawsuit against another supermarket chain in Germany.
Dubai chocolate was launched in the UAE for the first time in 2021 by “FIX” company.
