The recent fires in Los Angeles, California have caused widespread destruction. These uncontrollable fires that started on Tuesday (January 7, 2025) have affected large parts of this region and destroyed thousands of houses and structures. According to reports, more than 12,300 buildings, including houses and cars, have been burned, tens of thousands of people have been displaced, and at least 10 people have lost their lives so far.
Images of some of the burned neighborhoods, including parts of Pacific Palisades, an affluent area of Los Angeles, and Altadena, a diverse neighborhood on the city’s eastern edge, show block after block of homes completely burned; as if they are in a war zone. Historical and cultural places were also not spared from the damage of the fire and finally, an apocalyptic image of California was recorded.
Reports about the cause of the recent fires indicate that critical conditions such as strong winds, high temperature, or in other words, global warming and extreme dryness of the plants in the region, easily fueled the spread of fire in large areas of the city and made the situation worse. A situation that can spread the flames quickly in new directions at any moment, and for this reason, many citizens have been asked to leave their places of residence.
