In the meeting of the Historical Monuments Registration Council, which was held on Tuesday, January 18, in Qeshm Island, seven historical sites of Bomosi Island were recognized as having historical value. These sites belong to the late Sassanid to Islamic period, which were recognized as having historical value.
Pointing out that works of historical value deserve to be protected and preserved due to their special value, he said:
The historical sites of Bomosi have represented the historical, geographical and strategic importance of the island in the past periods. These historical monuments show that Bomosi Island was a part of Iran’s civilizational network in the past and it was a sign of Iran’s presence and sovereignty in the Persian Gulf and islands.
Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Hormozgan added:
The historical sites of Bomosi Island prove that Iran has created facilities and infrastructure in this island for the protection of the Persian Gulf. These works are a strong document against the illegal claims about the Persian Gulf and Bomusi Islands, Big and Little Tunb. The historical assets of Bomosi Island as the dominant tourist attraction can help to attract tourists.
