A campaign has been launched to save the Abbasabad World Garden from being annexed to Behshahr.
Abbasabad World Registration Garden is in danger of joining the urban area and in this case the protection rules of this valuable historical garden will be changed. In the days when the Ministry of Cultural Heritage is facing extensive management challenges in its protection duty, cultural heritage activists address the president in their campaigns.
These days, there are concerns about the annexation of Abbas Abad Garden to Behshahr. A group of different associations want to prevent this happening in a campaign this time.
In the text of this campaign, it is addressed to the president:
We, the signatories of this campaign, request your Excellency to, based on the regulations of the national and global registration of cultural heritage, regarding the Abbasabad World Garden of Behshahr in Mazandaran province and the regulations of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, to annex this unique historical complex with an area of 420 Hectares, which are completely covered by virgin Hyrcanian forests, avoid Behshahr city limits. The world heritage of Abbas Abad Garden is the largest and most unique Iranian garden built in the heart of the Hyrcanian forests and is world famous. Abbas Abad is the best example of suburban historical gardens and should not be annexed to the urban environment based on national and international standards. Also, the Hyrkan forests have been registered in the world heritage list as one of the unique ecosystems of the earth, and Abbas Abad Lake is one of the most important breeding habitats of the valuable species and the birthplace of the Talshi toad, 90% of its global distribution is in Iran, especially in the Abbas Abad World Garden. This complex, with its historical and natural nature, only deals with daily services in the tourism sector and does not have any urban environmental features.
Various associations have given the following text of this campaign:
We, the signatories of this campaign, request you, based on the laws of the Islamic Council in the field of registration and protection of national monuments and the commitments of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, to prevent the non-expert annexation of this collection to Behshahr and to prevent its exit. Check out this unique collection of global listings. Undoubtedly, the annexation of this historical and natural area to the territory of Behshahr can be the beginning of the destruction of historical monuments, Hyrcanian forests and the vital habitat of animals and the natural and pristine ecosystem of this area. Also, please return the integrated management of the Abbasabad World Heritage complex to its legal and specialized trustee (Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts) and a comprehensive conservation and sustainable tourism plan for this region, in order to protect the world and natural heritage and make proper use of economic capacities. and its culture should take place.
