Heritage Protection Unit: 2,500 accused in the field of heritage were arrested

Arresting 2,564 criminals, filing 1,796 legal cases, discovering 1,340 metal detectors, discovering more than 27,000 historical objects, receiving 2,562 public reports, etc., are some of the important actions of the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit in the past year. Assigning special branches to deal with crimes in the field of cultural heritage is another good event in this area, and currently special branches have been established in 16 provinces.

The commander of the cultural heritage protection unit reminded:

Revision of reliable protection, strengthening of people’s participation and formation of operational plan of the units are considered to be the most important actions of the cultural heritage protection unit. We have more than 41,000 nationally registered works, and the protection unit is in charge of protecting these works. In addition to that, we have 259 museums and dozens of world heritage sites, which are protected and guarded by the conservation unit. Considering the dispersion of historical monuments, we defined strategies for the cultural heritage protection unit, which includes two parts: preventive measures and quick response measures.
